To the peace loving people of Xanth, I come before you to speak of the crisis in the country of Tigana. It is serious and may involve all countries in the world. Tigana is a country to the south west of Xanth, within the continent of Gondor. Tigana is little known to the people of Xanth and this is the first time in the History of our country that we have had to directly deal with this country. Tigana is a small country with a large population and very little industrial strength. Tigana has and is experiencing problems of poverty because of overpopulation and lack of space left in the country. It is surrounded by other small countries with smaller populations. The country is led by King Gustan. He has reigned for fifty six years and no one has ever challenged the throne before. Recently in Tigana a revolution has broken out and is led by King Gustan's youngest son, Sabin Gustan. Sabin was educated in Tolendra from grade one through university so he has also learned the philosophies of Tolendra which include world revolution to free opressed workers. He is rising against his own father because he feels that his father strips the people of their freedoms and that he is too old to appropriately modernize the country. Sabin recognizes an agressive military and a leader that supports average workers as good political ideals. Sabin feels that the only way to change the situation that his native country is now in, is to take it over by force and change it to his own likings. Sabin has these feelings of agression because he was educated in Tolendra and thinks that it is his right to resort to force whenever needed. It is beleived by our government that Sabin had some kind of plan in dealing with Tolendra. Our Government believes that Tolendra and Sabin want to claim Tigana in the name of Tolendra to be led by Sabin. What makes the crisis even worse, is that when war breaks out in Tigana the people who are uninvolved may flee the country to the bordering countries of Lasana and Manchora, which could cause instability in these countries. Tolendra is well known to all people in Xanth as the instigator of the war of Jingulansos which caused five hundred thousand Xanthian casualties and seven-hundred thousand wounded and missing. Tolendra has a long history of military agression and has just recently conquered two smaller countries on it's borders, Iffendrill and Falana under the power of Kefka Gestahl. Iffendrill and Falana were no match for Kefka and Tolendra's armies and they surrendered after half of their military was destroyed and both leaders dead. Upon hearing the news of the revolution, Tolendra pledged full support for Sabin and his revolution and began to prepare for battle in Tigana. Our government believes that Sabin and Tolendra are working together to claim Tigana in the name of Tolendra and this is why Tolendra became involved. Tolendra will send in troops soon to support Sabin and the revolution. When the support arrives, Sabin will most likely lead an assault on the Tigana Capital City, Figaro. The Kingdom of Gustan is located in Figaro and the Revolutioneers will try to dethrone King Gustan. Upon hearing of the revolution and the alliance of Sabin and Tolendra, our neighbour and ally, Al-Rassan pledged its support for its trading partner, King Gustan and his many years of peace. The president of Al-Rassan, Locke Cole is now ready to battle against the revolution along side King Gustans Royal Forces. Al-Rassan will send in troops soon to battle back Sabin and the Tolendra forces. The main Al-Rassanian forces will be sent to help defend the Gustan Kingdom. Both Al-Rassan and Tolendra have nuclear capabilities and are historical enemies ever since the war of Jingulansos. They are both ready to fight alongside their respective Tigana allies and will commence fighting within hours of now. Myself, my advisors and the Ultra-Conservative Democratic Nationalist Party were faced with an extremely tough decision. We had several options to consider each having its own consequences and its positive elements. Having reviewed many alternatives we realized that we must try to come to a non-violent solution that would: 1)please both Tolendra and AL-Rassan 2) stop the leader of the revolution, Sabin with minimal violence 3)keep positive relations, trade and otherwise, with both Tolendra and Al- Rassan 4)give Tigana war releif 5)please both the Malgarods and the Belgarions After reviewing all options and alternatives we have come to a conclusion. We have sent out a message to the leader of Tolendra, Kefka Gestahl. We have threatened to cut off all ties and trading deals with Tolendra and we will get a world-wide block of any exports from any country to Tolendra unless they withdraw all support for the revolution in Tigana. We will shut down Tolendra and all of it's trading unless quick and efficient withdrawal is implied immediateley. I have already spoken to the leader of Al-Rassan and he has promised me that he will also withdraw his support for King Gustan once the Tolendran forces have. With no support from Tolendra, the country in which all of his beleifs are based, Sabin Gustan, the leader of the revolution will surrender and his followers will disband with no leader. After all revolutioneers are gone, we will develop a releif plan to help support Tigana in this desperate time and to help prevent a crisis like this from ever happening again. If Tolendra withdraws, we will continue to trade with them and will hope for better relations in the future, which will please us and them. Al-Rassan will also continue trade with us. Sabin will be stopped and his revolution over. He will most likely flee the country of Tigana and go back to Tolendra. Future relations will be positive for Tolendra and Al-Rassan. The people of Xanth will all be pleased that no Xanthian people had to go to war wether they be of Malgarod or Balgarion background. We are confident that the solution that we have chosen was the right one and that a major crisis situation has been averted. Thank you, people of Xanth. May we all say a prayer for the people of Tigana in this trying time. | ||||||||||||||||
